Dreaming of Air Conditioning, Replacing a Furnace, or Remodeling?
Wednesday, Oct, 6 from 7:00-8:00 pm—Free!
You might be asking yourself, “Why is the Bringing Back the Natives Garden Tour coordinating a heat pump event?”
This past June my husband Mike’s and my home was featured on the East Bay Green Home Tour. This was such a rewarding experience! So many people contacted me afterward and told me that seeing our home had inspired them to move forward on their projects that I am now incorporating green home features into the Bringing Back the Natives Garden Tour. I hope you find this a helpful and inspiring addition.
Did you know that nearly 40% of greenhouse gas emissions come from the natural gas we use in our buildings? And that moving forward—electrifying, or switching our furnaces, stoves, water heaters, and clothes dryers from gas to electricity—will be key to controlling global warming? I didn’t know that buildings are our second biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions (cars are the first), until my husband, Mike, and I started planning and researching as we moved through our major remodel. We’d love to share with you what we learned, and show you how we have reduced our environmental footprint.
We hope you’ll join us on Wednesday, October 6, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm for a free Zoom presentation, “Dreaming of air conditioning, replacing a furnace, or remodeling?” that will feature several homes (including my own) that have replaced gas furnaces with heat pumps for heating and cooling air. As a result of replacing our gas furnace with a heat pump, Mike and I have gotten air conditioning for free, and, as we also installed solar panels that generate the clean energy that runs our heat pump, we no longer pay a PG&E bill.
You will “Tour” four homes with heat pumps, and learn:
• How you can help combat climate change and save money by ditching natural gas
• What is a heat pump for heating and cooling air? Why are the better than air conditioners?
• The difference between ductless and ducted heat pump systems
• How 4 different homeowners have replaced their gas heaters with super-efficient heat pumps that are powered by electricity
• What rebates are available
Ask questions of the homeowners, and a heat pump expert from EcoPerformance Builders.
