PHILOSOPHY watershed-nursery-10

After years for working on local environmental and wetland projects, scientists Diana Benner and Laura Hanson founded The Watershed Nursery in 2001.  They developed collection and propagation protocols to provide high quality, site specific, native plant material, and set off on the path of exceptional services for habitat enhancement projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area watershed. The Watershed Nursery has extensive experience providing customized plant growing, seed collection, species palette design, project monitoring, and educational workshops.  With our roots grounded in stewardship and conservation, we are able to provide happy, healthy flora for both large scale projects and private gardens.

The efforts of gardeners like you greatly improve the diversity and health of our ecosystem!  Our knowledgeable staff can assist you in creating a sweet meadow garden, substituting that costly front lawn with native grasses, or identifying that pesky, invasive, non-native plant in your garden.  We are proud to offer popular favorites, as well as hundreds of hard-to-find selections, and our prices can’t be beat! No matter where you live in the Bay Area, we have the perfect water-wise, deer-resistant, Native California plant for you.

You can get more information at www.thewatershednursery.com, where you will find an updated monthly inventory list of all our available species.  Using our plant finder, you can view photos and information.  You can also learn more about the projects we participate in, find out about special events and sales, as well as a link to our Facebook page.

On behalf of the plants, we would like to invite you to celebrate the Bringing Back the Natives Tour with us during the Native Plant Sale Extravaganza. All species will be marked down 10%. Come in and learn more about the medicinal properties of Artemisia douglasiana, and the historical uses of Sambucus mexicana and Quercus agrifolia.  You can wander through our beautiful display gardens, chat with our knowledgeable staff, or simply chill out and browse our many habitat sections.
