Showcase feature: Just behind the imposing (and recently restored to its original 1870 condition) Peralta House is a native plant garden designed specifically to showcase native plants from the area Europeans called “Fruit Vale.” The Ring of Native Plants contains signs in four languages, Ohlone, Spanish, English, and Latin, that describe how the Ohlone Indians used a number of these plants. Artistic sculptures provide additional information on Ohlone uses of the plants.

Directions:
Coming from the north on the I-580 take the Fruitvale Ave. exit, and turn right onto Fruitvale. Turn left on Hyde St. Turn right onto Coolidge, and make an immediate left onto Hyde St. Finally, turn left onto 34th ave., and left into the parking lot.
Coming from the south on I-580 take the exit toward Coolidge Ave./ Fruitvale Ave. and merge onto Montana St. Turn left at Coolidge, and continue for about one mile. Turn left onto Hyde st., and left onto 34th Ave., which terminates at the park.

Parking:
If there is room park in the lot adjacent to the Peralta House, if the lot is full, park on the street.
