Sharon Herrera’s Garden
Pleasant Hill
Years gardened at this location: 20 years
Size: 8,000 square feet
Showcase feature: The front lawn has been removed, and back lawn reduced in this low water-use garden. Specimen boulders, mounds of soil, and a unique fence provide visual interest in the front garden, which was previously a lawn. Pamela Simonds, the landscaper who designed and installed the garden, and whose home this was until fairly recently, will be available throughout the day to answer questions.
Other garden attractions:
- Dog tunnel placed through a raised bed allows canine friend to run around the garden while protecting plants.
- Plants are grouped by water needs.
- An oak and buckeye border the garden.
Gardening for Wildlife: Birds are attracted to the diversity of trees and plants in this garden, and to the feeders and baths put out for them.
