Online registration—Self-Guided Tour, Sunday, May 2, 2010
You can still register for the free self-guided tour on Sunday, May 2 at one of ten walk-in registration sites open on the day of the tour. However, online registration is closed. To be notified when registration for the 2011 tour opens, complete the 2011 tour notification form.
Walk-in registration—May 2nd tour
Walk-in registration on the day of the tour, starting at 10:00 am, is at ten gardens located in Alameda, Berkeley, Castro Valley, Concord, El Cerrito, Livermore, Martinez, Moraga, Oakland, and Richmond.
Walk-in registrants will be asked to provide their names and e-mail addresses; then they will given a printed garden guide which contains the garden addresses and directions. There are a limited number of guides at each of these special walk-in registration gardens; please arrive early to ensure there are still guides available. One guide will be provided for each group.
Walk-in registration sites are open from 10:00 – 5:00 on Sunday, May 2, 2010. Please do not visit any of these locations to request a guide before the day of the tour.

Alameda
Alameda Butterfly Habitat
200 Aughinbaugh Road, Alameda
Directions to the walk-in registration site in Alameda:
Heading south on the 880 take the High St. exit and turn right onto High*.
Heading north on 880 take the High St. Exit and turn left onto High*.
*Continue through the next light and over the bridge; stay in the left lane. Take the first left after the bridge onto Fernside. Continue on Fernside to the dead end at Otis. Turn left onto Otis and take the first right after the bridge onto Island Drive. Turn right at the light onto Robert Davey Drive. Continue to the dead end at Aughinbaugh. Turn right onto Aughinbaugh; the parking lot for the school and garden is on the left.
Berkeley

Directions to the walk-in registration site in Berkeley:
From either the north or south on I-80 exit at Gilman, and turn east. Go 1.3 miles and turn left onto Hopkins. Continue 0.3 miles and turn right onto Carlotta. The house is on the right.
Castro Valley

From I-580 take the Redwood Rd. exit toward Castro Valley. Turn left at Redwood Rd. and continue 1.3 miles. Turn right at 7 Hills Rd. and go .3 miles. Turn left at Brickell Way and continue 0.1 mile. The house is on the left.
Concord

Coming from the north on I-680 take exit 51 for Willow Pass Rd. toward Taylor Blvd. Turn left at Willow Pass and go 1.4 miles. Turn right at Galindo St. and go 0.5 miles. Turn left at Cowell Rd. and go 2.7 miles. Turn left at Ygnacio Valley Rd. and go 1.3 miles.*
Coming from the south on I-680 take the Ignacio Valley Rd. exit, turn right onto Ygnacio Valley and continue 6.7 miles.*
Coming from Berkeley on Hwy 24 take the exit toward Ygnacio Valley Rd., turn right onto Ygnacio Valley and go 6.7 miles.*
*Turn right at Alberta Way and go 0.1 mile. Stay straight and continue on Pine Hollow Rd. for 0.8 miles. Turn right at Krona Ln. and go 500 feet.
While the house address is on Krona Lane, you will enter the back garden by walking up the driveway, which is on Krona Court.
El Cerrito

Coming from either the north or south on I-80 exit at Central Ave. and turn east, toward the hills. Turn left at San Pablo Ave. and continue 0.4 miles. Turn right onto Stockton and go 0.3 miles. Turn right at Everett. The house is on your right.
Livermore

From the 580 take the Portola Avenue exit. At the first light take a right onto Murrietta. Turn right onto Holmes. Turn left onto Lexington. Turn right onto Windsor. Turn left onto Ardmore Place.
From Highway 84 (from Hwy. 680) Highway 84 turns into Holmes. Turn right onto Lexington. Turn right onto Windsor. Turn right onto Ardmore Place.
Martinez

Directions to the walk-in registration site in Martinez:
Coming from the west on Highway 4 take the Alhambra Ave. exit toward Martinez and turn left at Alhambra Ave. Continue 1.4 miles. Turn right at Brown St. and continue 0.6 miles to the end of the cul-de-sac.
Coming from Walnut Creek take I-680 north. Exit at Pacheco Blvd. (exit 54) and continue 2.6 miles. Turn right at Brown St and go 0.1 mile.
Moraga
Al Kyte’s garden
57 Corliss Drive, Moraga
Directions to the walk-in registration site in Moraga:
From Walnut Creek take Hwy 24 West. Take the Central Lafayette/Moraga Exit and get into the right lane. Turn right at each of the first two stop lights and continue in the right lane 0.3 miles down to Mount Diablo Road in central Lafayette. Turn right onto Mount Diablo Road and immediately get into the left lane to be able to make a left turn at the next intersection. At that intersection, turn left onto Moraga Road and stay on it for 3.6 miles. Turn right on Corliss Dr. and go 1.0 mile to number 57 (on your right).
From Berkeley and Oakland take Hwy 24 East. Take the Orinda/Moraga Exit and turn right onto Camino Pablo at the first stoplight. Camino Pablo soon becomes Moraga Way. Continue on Moraga Way for 3.6 miles. Turn left on Hardie Drive and go 0.4 miles. Turn left on Woodside Dr. and go 0.2 miles. Turn left on Corliss Drive. Number 57 is the fourth house on your right.
Oakland

From the south take I-580 west and exit at Harrison/MacArthur. Continue along MacArthur for 3 blocks (3 stoplights) to Fairmount Ave. Turn left onto Fairmount. Go one block, turn right onto Kempton Way, and park.
From the north take I-580 east and exit at Harrison St./Oakland Avenue. Turn left onto Oakland Ave. and pass under the freeway. Turn left at MacArthur Blvd and continue along MacArthur for 2 blocks (2 stoplights) to Fairmount Avenue. Turn left onto Fairmount Ave. Go one block, turn right onto Kempton Way, and park.
Richmond

Coming from Berkeley on I-80 take the San Pablo Avenue exit; at the end of the exit turn right onto San Pablo Ave. At the first traffic light turn right onto Barrett Avenue*.
Coming from the Pinole on I-80 take the San Pablo Ave. exit; at the end of the exit turn right onto Barrett Avenue*.
*Continue down Barrett to 31st Street. Turn right onto 31st Street and go one block to Roosevelt Avenue. The house is on the corner of Roosevelt and 31st.
Guest Etiquette
- Each person who enters a garden must turn in a ticket. Tickets are found in the back of the garden guide.
- The tour starts at the garden of your choice at 10 am. Visit as many gardens as you like before 5 pm. Do not arrive early or after 5 pm. We recommend selecting the gardens you would like to visit by reviewing the garden descriptions and talks before setting out for the day. You can plan your route using mapquest.com or maps.google.com.
- Please follow standard parking etiquette—do not block driveways or double park. Watch for special parking instructions at select gardens.
- Children must be closely supervised by an accompanying adult. Strollers are not permitted in the gardens.
- Stay on marked paths and wear sturdy shoes.
- Do not pick flowers, fruits or vegetables. Do not take cuttings.
- Restroom facilities are available at most of the public gardens. No restroom facilities are available at the home gardens.
- Smoking is not permitted.
- Leave pets at home.
